Why not just extend Medicare to all Americans?
The simplest and easy way to give everyone Health Care is to extend Medicare to all citizens. The infrastructure is already there, and most Americans approve of Medicare. The insurance companies could make profits by selling competitive products that would supplement Medicare (as they do now).

allow even the insured to switch to the public option. if they choose. A STRONG public option.
Some of us have insurance but hate our insurance companies. I don't want to give another dime of my money to a private insurer and want to make sure that the public option is open to all Americans who can switch if we so choose. I could not tell from the President's speech whether the public option was only open to the uninsured or if it was open to anyone.

Please hold all politicians accountable for their comments.
Even during President Obama's speech there were inappropriate, ignorant comments. We also must hold the news media accountable for it's yellow journalism approach where they highlight reactions from the militant uninformed.

How about a "reverse trigger"? Start with a public ins opt til the naysayers prove it doesn't work!

No Individual mandates
Can we please all come together to push to drop the Individual Mandates from these bills? After last night we can not count on the President or the Senate to really come through with a strong Public Option, they are too squiggly on this issue! Without a Strong Public Option then this bill is nothing more than the Massachusetts Plan which has driven that state into economic failure, lined the pockets of the CEOs of the Insurance companies and has driven the prices of premiums up for everyone in that state 25% in 2 years. What will you do about changing the financial incentives so quality, efficient care is rewarded?
The financial incentives reward the insurance companies and physicians themselves for inefficiency and over-priced care. We must change this incentives to be effective.
