Those of use who have traveled in Europe and Asia, realize how essential that rail travel is to the economy and travel needs of citizens. A top priority for the U.S. needs to be a rebuilding of our rail system, including plans for high speed systems between major cities with speeds of at least 170 mph.

We all know that with industry financing federal and state elections and politicians depending on that financing, our legislators will never represent citizen needs. It is industry that does our governing and citizens have little or no say except to complain. The only answer is public financing and an end to industry financing AND with it , shorter campaigns with the media being required to provide low cost campaign coverage.

The President must insure full EPA oversight for the coal and oil industry. Our nation's health problems are directly tied to those industries and with a public health program being instituted, oversight is more essential than ever!!

I read recently there are many tankers sitting off our coasts full of oil, waiting for reasons for price increases, and it seems to be working. Here is an opportunity for all of us to begin complaining to the Obama administration and our legislature's asking for some public jawboning. To me the annual gasoline producer's raises are illussionary and the public must rise up against it.
